Fog of War is the eighth episode in the second season of StarCrafts. It is the thirty-third episode overall.
Plot[]
At Xel'naga tower, group of marines, marauder and ghost guard the area. A marine tries to contact the base using the radio transmitter, but the contact remains static. Another marine checks the sightings with a pair of binoculars (not noticing bumps ahead as burrowed zerg units) until he spots the viper suddenly enshouding the area with blinding cloud. The green cloud creates a zero-visibility for terrans to hardly detect attacking zerg forces. The marines panic as they aimlessly fire their weapons in different directions, but are outnumbered by unseen enemies.
The marauder escapes the fog, but is captured by viper's abduct tongue. Suddenly, a hydralisk slashes an unlucky marine to death. Another marine spots the beast stabbing the body until it gives a jump scare. Baneling rolls behind the group of marines and explodes with acid. The ghost focuses his target but is impaled by poison darts. The last marine nervously aims his rifle anywhere until the cloud fades away. As the area has been cleared, his comrades are already killed. He grabs a suspicious marine (a changeling in disguise) and runs toward the terran base.
Epilogue[]
The marine wheezes in exhaustion as he let the disguised changeling enter behind the supply depot. The latter turns its head at him, snickering.

Cultural References[]
- Last marine's point of view reveals a first-person shooter camera view, which was used in Doom games and Quake.
- This camera view will be reused in "Halloween Special 2013," which has different weapon angle.
- Episodes title, "Fog of War", means that, in almost every real-time strategy games, the chartered area of the battlefield map is darkened again after the player occupies it using scouting units. Only terrains and enemy buildings are visible under partial darkness but the enemy units in motion are not revealed.
